Jon Lovitz is a renowned comedian and actor who has been active for over three decades. Starting in high school plays, he honed his craft at the University of California, Irvine, earning a B.A. in Drama, and later with Tony Barr at the Film Actors Workshop. Encouraged to focus on comedy, he joined the famed improv group “The Groundlings” in 1982 and rose to prominence with his character “Tommy Flanagan of Pathological Liars Anonymous” on The Tonight Show in 1985. This launched his career with roles in films, TV, and Saturday Night Live, where he was Emmy-nominated in his first two seasons.
Jon has appeared in over 40 films, including Big, A League of Their Own, The Wedding Singer, and many Adam Sandler movies. Known for his distinctive voice, he led the cult cartoon The Critic and contributed to The Simpsons. On Broadway, he starred in Neil Simon’s The Dinner Party and has performed musically at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall.
In television, Jon made memorable appearances on Friends, Seinfeld, and recurring roles on shows like Hot in Cleveland and New Girl. Since 2003, he has also succeeded as a stand-up comedian, headlining across North America. Currently, he performs a musical comedy show, “From the Shower to the Stage.”
