David Nail’s candor sets him apart in the music industry, as he refuses to present himself in a false light. Respected across Music Row, Nail has written multiple hits and is lauded for his ability to turn ordinary lyrics into powerful performances. His songs unflinchingly tackle personal demons, particularly his struggles with depression. As Nail explains, writing about these topics is not an act of courage but a reflection of who he truly is.
Nail’s journey began in Kennett, Missouri, and led to Nashville, where he honed his craft under the guidance of producer Frank Liddell. His debut album, I’m About To Come Alive, and subsequent releases cemented his reputation as a creative risk-taker. After leaving MCA Nashville, Nail pursued an independent path, resulting in the 2018 project David Nail & The Well Ravens, which allowed him to explore new artistic territories.
David Nail’s train has left the station, leaving behind any self-imposed restrictions. His journey is well underway, with no terminus in sight. Probably he’ll never reach that last stop; it’ll always be just ahead, out of reach. But on the way he will have taken us all on the ride of a lifetime.
